A friend found this + another unusual (and it has only the letter S. as a signature!) piece in a storage unit he won at auction. He called me figuring I'd want to buy them - and I did!
It's a cool piece but there isn't a signature anywhere that I can find - maybe there's one on the back but it's covered.
Any idea who the artist is (a long shot I know but if anyone would know it'd be someone here!)?
    Thoughts on it?
    PS - measures 43" x 23"
    Thanks!

A look at the 2nd One - I am going to post separately because it will take a few photos; it has writing along every edge as well as on the back; but signed with just the letter S. - hoping someone knows this artist too?
I think both were good finds & my taste!

The first reminds me of your Los Castillos (sp?) plate artist.
Could it be one and the same? ;)

No idea whom the tribute painting was done for.

What does it say all around the edge of the canvas of the second one?

I'll post all of it tomorrow - it's next door in main house & I live in in-laws house (because the 4 bedroom main house is too full of paintings, collectibles, etc. - seriously! (Its an addiction but I sell enough to pay the bills - and buy more! lol

1 came from storage unit & 1 (plate) came from thrift store - can you imagine what it'd be worth if a Castillo?!

I think it's possible, although I never heard of Castillo until you showed your plate.
I've found pieces of matching sets in more than one thrift store or shop before, so not impossible! Let us know what you find out. :cat:

I don't see the 'S'. And it can't hurt to take off the back, if not signed maybe you can at least tell how it was made.

The S is on the back of the painting not the...what do you call the first piece?

Is it mixed media with metal? Is it a mish mosh of paint? :)
