Do you guys have Too Good to Go for food? Local friend got three HUGE carrier bags of food, four quid the lot. Ten limes,loads of veggies, packs of Ginsters, packs of chicken and saisages, bread and a lot more. He froze what he couldn't eat immediately.

 

Well, my favorite flea market is starting up again. It felt so good to walk around in sunshine and crisp, cool, fresh air. Prices were great, spent $1 to $5 each on the following items: $1 each


$2, my favorite jewelry find

$1 each plate

Most expensive piece was the big rhinestone brooch at $5. Estee Lauder cardinal solid perfume compact.

Sterling and gold-filled, $2-$5 each. Blue topaz bracelet appears to be gold-plated. Big round pendant has ruby gemstones on the opposite side. Citrine ring is Stauer. 14k and sterling claddaugh ring has British? hallmarks. GF jadeite bracelet.


Ostby Barton gold-shell ring, looks like some goof ball tried to acid test it all over.


Lastly, a German silver purse, mesh intact, $4.

 

I will be posting the best find later. Posting a few items with questions to the jewelry board.

 

Claddaghs are usually either Irish marks or sometimes Birmingham. Outsourced!

 

Well, these deserve their own photo shoot. Picked them up for $2, think they are an artistsan sterling piece. Found a signature while cleaning, will post on jewelry board.

Thank you. Just got the best piece out of the car. Milor Italy 14k yellow gold bracelet with white gold and yellow gold charms, $3, found late in the day during my second go round. Keys a bit bent.

I used to love them too, @pearlsnblume, They are or were a "Thing" at one time and do hold fond memories.....I have 4 of them.....one sterling and 3 gold......the problem is what to do with them....nobody wants them......my sterling is from 'college' and before, same with one gold one, SiL passed one on to me as her daughter (my niece) didn't want it, and got one from my Mom..... Like I said.....What to do with them!!!!!! Yes, the bracelets themselves have value, along with some of the charms, but it still seems a sin to just melt some of the others!!! Mom's has 2 small gold coins (1853 & 1878- 2 1/2 dollars- one has the back filed off with a name added) that got drilled to put on hers....there went that value (other than just a little gold value)!!!

 

My flea market is like the twilight zone. I hit the one vendor at 8:15, late by my standards, but he just set up. He is older, and sets less and less. Regulars usually come around and just buy all his jewelry as a lot, which someone did after I had my pick of it. Another vendor is liquidating because she lives with her son now and they need space. They set up later, and she tells me she will be bringing more silver and gold. She hesitates to put it out due to the cutthroat sharks roaming the waters, but she trusts me. The gold bracelet was mixed in with modern junky costume, lady set up after 10 am. Not a lot of vendors or customers out early. It's a craps shoot, really, anymore. And vendors are complaining that customers aren't out due to gas prices. I go for the fresh air, exercise, hot dogs with fried onions, and Amish donuts. I walked 11,000 steps yesterday, and had fun. If I was a cutthroat shark, it wouldn't be fun. Fortunately, I set my future up decades ago to receive a pension and healthy SS payments. I have to work one more year until I reach 66, then I can have fun selling it all. My only concerns are health-related, but we all grow old and have them sooner or later.

I do, too. Sold a gold one in the 70s, regret it. I don't wear many bracelets, I tend to lose them.

I have just one charm bracelet with just one charm. I think my grandparents or my parents gave it to me for my birthday. It is heavy gold.
After I lost a tennis bracelet many years ago, I got worried and stopped wearing most of it. I do need a chain to put my Chai on as the one that came with it is broken. But gold chains are pricey.

I think getting out during the beginning of flea markets, garage sales, yard sales is the best thing to do, the best stuff seems to come out at the beginning as folks have waited for better weather to start gearing up for these things.

We only have one flea market and it won't open till the end of this month. It is a good thing to do in the warmer but not hot weather as an outdoor activity. I also bump into my friends who are on estate sale lines that I know for years that sell at the flea.

 

The best stuff does seem to come out early, if anyone actually has a tag sale. Last year I hit two or three good weekends all year, with three or so really good "hits". Dunno where the stuff is going, but it's not coming out of the woodwork!

I give. Ginster? I googled them - cornish pasties? We don't get those here at all unless we make our own. No Too Good to Go bags either. Darnitt. There should be, but liability laws can make it crazy difficult to do something like that.

The pick of Saturday's litter: my sister and BiL's Christmas pressie. Italian cased glass. Another good hit is the watch - Coach ladies quartz. The Longaberger was silly money originally - I got two for $6.

 

Charity shops today. I know these prints are out of fashion but at £3 each I couldn’t leave them there, they are antique and I think interesting to look at. The Italian leather jewellery box was £2 and the little lacquer box 50p.

 

I'd have hauled off that Russian lacquer box so fast.... I hit four thrifts today. Came home with padded mailers, a pin dish, and some bakelite/catalin earrings of no great whoop. Spent $2.06 includng tax.
