Does anybody recognise this style of decoration?

    I have searched the Internet but failed to produce a style of illustration that is similar.

    The white lines are scribed into the dish. It is 21cm x 13.8cm, with alift of 2.5cm. The illustration is signed by MESNIL, and there are no marks on the back.

    I find the picture very aesthetically dramatic.

    Help, please.

    Try using sgraffito for the technique.

    Thank you, that is exactly what it is. I've tried a few searches with sgraffito, mesnil ceramic dish, Mary and Jesus, in it but no luck.

    The technique as in my dish is very effective. I just describe it to my wife; Oh sgraffito you mean.

    Thank you. Spot on although now seem to specialise decorative building accessories. I will send them an email. Their website is a bit of a mess with non-working pages and features.
