Large Chinese container w/ Qianlong mark - What was it used for?

    I've never seen a container like this and wonder what its functional purpose is? It measures about 9 inches high and about the same in maximum diameter. There are four protrusions on the sides with slots, plus the spout. The lid fits loosely in place. Does anyone know what it is? Thanks! ... Dave

    I suck at evaluating blue and white wares, but this is a oil jar, Chinese and my guess would be 20th C., not of the Qianlong period.

    Thanks for the identification! Despite the mark, I was guessing 20th century too.
