This is the 2nd painting I found today at a 2nd local thrift store. I was there when it came off the truck & liked it immediately, but when I asked my friend (the manager) what he wanted for it he (and I) noticed a $2,000 price on the back in pencil that is barely legible )flash may have blocked it because I can't see it in photos), besides being inside a Thank you to a Doctor (I guess this was a gift) that is also written on the back - with that he told me $100.
After some cajoling (and begging!) I got him to take $90 - he told me I could wait a week & if it didn't sell it would be 1/2 price, but I'm telling you art is addictive! I kept thinking why did it have a $2,000 price on it, and if it is by a known artist & worth the $2,000 I would kick myself for a week!
So, please - can anyone tell who the artist is? (I think it has a 70;s something date at the end?)
    Any thoughts on it?
Thanks for any help with this!

Agree looks like art bal. Not coming up with anything though. Probably won't find much on this artist.

Perhaps abstract expressionism? Jackson Pollock like?

Perhaps it was an attempt at a landscape and Dr. Sangiovani was able to correct the vision problem...

Just out of curiosity, if you found out who the artist was would you contact them to authenticate it? My thought being that it was a gift and they might be offended to find out it ended up in a thrift store.

Not worried about authenticating it - was hoping artist is listed/known and it's worth the $90 I paid or better yet the $2,000 written on the back.

Aquitaine Is What It IS! But NEVER BORED!

Just out of curiosity, where was the $2000. written on the back? By using a flash or a VERY bright light, (unless it was just sunny) there's no chance of any one of us looking the back of it over digitally to see if we could find where it might have said that!! IMHO!!

I would not have paid $5 for it (well, maybe if I wanted to discard the painting and wanted the frame.)

If the... "artist" was trying to "Pollock" it, it was a major failure. I see no artistic value on it.

I think Mark got it right, "Perhaps it was an attempt at a landscape and Dr. Sangiovani was able to correct the vision problem..."

    LOL!
