Welcome, Aaron. What kind of "identity" are you looking for? In the US? Any info from the prior owner? Age?

I see knotty pine and assume that that is also what is under the paint, but can you get a picture of the back? Insides?

Yes im in the US. I do not have more information on the age or previous owner. I found it sitting out with a free sign on it. Looking to see value and possible age and manufacture. I was thinking of refurbishing it and keeping but if its a significant piece i would like to keep as original and use it.

 

I will get some more photos tonight. And they to post. The problem I am having is the photos are to large to post.

That mixed finish makes me think 70s-80s. Its a grand piece,and you cant beat the price ! Id have drug it home in my Kia one way or the other.

 

Has that 1970's Ethan Allen vibe.

 

Wow! Great find. Not "significant", if you mean a high value, attributed maker, rare antique. It's a few too many centuries away from that. Check backs, drawers, underneath drawers, etc for any makers marks. I see these a lot now in the current "farmhouse" trend. They're versatile because it's not a problem to switch up the finish and hardware to suit the current trend. To my mind, knotty pine will always look dated, but it may be coming around again.

I see them like this at estate sales and they are lucky to get $100 for them sorry to say.

 

Pretty much. That's probably why it was out to the curb. OTOH, cleaned up it will hold a goshawful pile of stuff and it was impossible to miss at the price.

Agree that this is a modern piece without much value other than utility. Has a lot of that going for it and you can't beat free.

 

A good find -- could be very useful in the right setting. I wonder whether a previous owner painted it, or if it was like that to begin with.
