Maker of sterling leaf brooch MHL

I’ve looked high and low but the only MHL I can find is Margaret Howell but there isn’t enough of her stuff out there to get a proper ID or see items with her makers mark.
Marked Sterling and I think it’s MHL but open to suggestions!
The other mark looks to be a date letter (G or O??) but tbh could be anything. I’ve cleaned it and picked it out with a toothpick but that’s the clearest it gets .
Although it’s simple it’s so nicely made that it’s got to be by someone quite skilled.
It’s approx 8cm long so a good size. Any ideas please?

Good spot and it does look like there is something there in the photo but under a loupe there is nothing! I’ll check again later in better light though.
