Firstly hi everyone, I'm new to this forum...greetings from soggy England, UK! I'm trying to identify what things are in my dad's collection... it was his hobby to go to charity shops, flea markets etc and buy stuff... mostly pewter, silver plate and silver. He didn't have a computer so no internet access ...so the information I have is very limited!
I need help identifying this spoon and I realise some of you are flatware/spoon experts... I'd really appreciate your help/expertise, thank you! The person's name engraved on the handle looks like Hannele which I think might be Scandinavian and I can't see any other marks other than 830S. I put it on a another forum but no replies so I'm guessing it's a challenge?! What do you think?? I'd be interested who the maker is and the name of the pattern. All ideas most welcome, thank you x

A close up picture of the mark/s would be much more helpful.

Hi there, yes I'm really struggling with uploading photos... using an old phone! I'll try and do that now. It's a dessert size spoon approx 7" long

With only the 830S fineness mark the spoon is likely from Norway although there is also a possibility that it is Danish. In either case it is missing a maker's mark

If I'm reading it right, it appears to be inscribed Hannele:

    From thebump.com:
Hannele as a girl's name is of Hebrew origin meaning "He (God) has favored me".

Johanna means about the same thing ; G-d has been gracious to me.

I'm probably stating the obvious but...
With the full girl's name engraved on it, rather than just initials, it's more likely a child's spoon than a true dessert spoon.

might well be when it was exported to Germany. Hannele or Hanneli are both diminuitives of Hanna.
