@vintagerobin VERY cool piece. I think you are correct that it is moonstone -- but double check it isn't a saphiret. You show it in front of a blue background, and the stone it shows some blue and brown (I think the brown is just reflection from the gold and the blue is reflecting the background, but these are saphiret colors, so double check.)

Likely just a moonstone reflecting, but do be sure -- Saphiret moon faces go for big $$$.

Oh, that's a thought, saphiret hadn't ocurred to me.

Ruth, that green carafe is Bohemian, late 19th into 20th.

I would soooo turn that into a ring. Yes, it could be a saphiret or a moonstone, I have a rose gold ring with a carved moonstone face.

20220220_103150.jpg Went to my outdoor flea market, very few vendors, then a thrift shop, nada mucho. Last stop was an antique mall where I found this for $29. 60. It was sold as costume, but the Presidium clocks the stones as white spinel. The clasp is a very secure one that would denote a more valuable piece. No marks, my guess is 10k. It sparkles like crazy in the sun. 20220220_103014.jpg 20220220_103043.jpg
It's a nice size. 1 and 5/8 inches in diameter.
Picture in the sun first one above text.

Here is the Munkvold painting. I no longer have it but will see if I might still have other pictures.

@nancyselliott - Brad has replied to my tag & has posted the photo of the painting again. I did a search & found the original post. No wonder @evelyb30 & I did not know the painting you spoke of as the original post was made in June 2014.:eek:
That was not too long after this forum was started & there have been thousands of postings to just this thread alone. I have trouble remembering the posts from last week sometimes.:rolleyes::p:hilarious::hilarious::hilarious:

It is a wonderful painting. Do you have any of your grandfather's artwork?

I wanted to add that it is good that some members leave photos of items up. This may not have happened if Brad had not left the post intact.

The plan I have at Auctiva gives me 1.5 GB of space. Right now I am using just a little over 26% of that space. I have a special folder that is just photos of stuff I have posted here so they don't accidentally get deleted. I do routinely delete the majority of photos of stuff I list for sale on eBay just because the odds of me getting the exact same item is unlikely.

I do have a small section of stuff that after running into a few times I save the photos & reuse them when the same item turns up again in my searching.:happy:

Without the blue background it doesn't have any color.

But it did test positive for 14K, pin and head.

    So moonstone it is then.

Not surprised. Thanks though. It reminds me of two small vases my great-grandparents got as wedding gifts. It's not totally perfect, but for one US dollar I wasn't arguing!

    WHOA. You stole that! Congrats!

WE've had no car boot sales for almost four weeks because of storms. So, I've only managed a couple of chazzas.

A little Honora bracelet. Brand harry spankers, as they say, but a mere £1.99 . And a very very very long necklace, £1.49. The beads would cost more.

Took the kids to spend their birthday book vouchers today and of course had to swerve into a few charity shops en route (vital mother & daughter bonding time)
Daughter had a field day and came out with a lovely jacket, jeans, a T shirt, the next size up school shoes (result, brand new but a fraction of the new price)and a very nice silk dress. Sadly nothing suitable for the little one which caused some angst but that’s the way the cookie crumbles sometimes.
Also 3 antique engravings £5 each. Says 1875 hand coloured on the back.
Love the lady whose been dumped in a bog by a naughty horse and the rude man whose horse has trampled on the cloches and tulips :hilarious:

And of course some jewellery £6 total

    Nice finds, all! :)

Practically jumped for joy when I saw a just the edge of this piece in the thrift cart, new items coming out. I knew exactly what it was, as I've sold 2 before in different animals. Abraham Palatnik. I've never had one this tall.
