Cute little guy. Once upon a time I'd have worn that comb if I found it.

I'm in the process of clearing a retired doctors cottage out, its in a remote village in the sticks, he's originally from London but his kids live in Scotland.
They hated him, for some reason.
Anyways, I get the goodies apart from the Mercedes in the garage.

    There are lots of smalls.
Silver items, antique documents and military and police photographs and certificates which are too numerous and sensitive to post here.

First out is this Satinwood 6 drawer bedroom chest on brass wheels.

This is a Danish picture framing mitre machine, manually operated, it weighs a ton and £2,800 when new.

    upload_2022-2-9_0-24-35.jpeg

Lots of framing and mouldings and foot operated frame staplers.

Davy, I honestly have no idea about U.S. Traveler's checks, but if they were never cashed, they may possibly have value (??) When I just googled it I got this:

Can you cash old traveler's checks? Traveler's checks do not expire. You can cash them in at any time — typically even at banks that don't offer them for sale. This means you can go to your own bank and redeem your traveler's checks.Aug 28, 2021

Or is it because it is someone else's signature that they aren't valuable?

Edit: I'm now seeing the fine print "countersign in the presence of the person cashing". I wonder how it works if someone is deceased? Money was spent to get these --maybe the family could do something with them?

The owner/ signatory has to cash them along with their passport as proof.
The signatory is deceased and the kids left them behind, they only want the house, Mercedes and what is in the bank.
$80 is only £59 here so hardly worth bothering with for them.

Most Travellers cheques on eBay are cashed and don't fetch much, maybe mine will be a premium:rolleyes:

700 Rand is £34, combined with $80 -£59 is nearly a tank of diesel

    £94 = $127

    I'd take it :hilarious:

Me too - that's close to two weeks of groceries. Might be worth asking a bank about those traveler's checques. I haven't seen one of those since the 80s.

Found two of these today at the Ill Will for $1 each. Pigeon Forge Pottery mugs - the Christmas ones seem to go for $20-27 each. The pottery is in Tennessee. My niece may end up with them.

This weekend was that estate sale. Come to figure out most of the jewelry was salted from another previous sale - that's why it was in box lots. Most wasn't that great, but... I did get a good whack of Whiting & Davis and a really cool Spanish enamel crucifix. Got one WHOOPSIE in the pile too. A Miriam Haskell Egyptian-design stick pin. The butterfly was the lone piece of sterling other than some rhinestone earrings.

A few weeks ago I commented about a perfume bottle I was watching that I was about to have a duck to get my hot little hands on. Well, it arrived in the mail over the weekend & I finally got the photos edited. :D:D

DeVilbiss atomizer c.1928 - Part of their Le Moderne Series - It is 3 1/8" tall to the top when in its gold plated stand. The atomizer is the top part & would be operated with your thumb.

This is the other bottle I have from that series. As I said earlier I bought the bottle on eBay back in 2012 & then I stumbled across the small stand one morning listed as a buy it now with a best offer option. I did not even hesitate as I knew I would likely never see another one. I hit the button & paid full price.:rolleyes:

Favorite pick from this week is a Dobro resonator for $69.99+. It’s a later model made by Gibson with the Dobro decal. Excellent condition with a decent hard case.
