this bronze monkey, who is "ABB" manufacturer? these monkees were all the rage among Austrian bronze

these monkees were all the rage among Austrian bronze places back in the day. The artist name is on the base Rheingold.

 

now Im thinking this is a Franz Bergmann piece with the addition of the letters "A" and "B".

 

Love ! I found a Wolfgang Hugo Rheinhold that was a sculptor,and apparently this was his most famous piece. I looked at many,but nowhere did I find one with foundry marks like yours.Most of them I saw were reproductions,and none looked like yours. Im wondering if you have the one they all were based on! Very interesting piece.

 

no I dont think this is the one they were based on. This one is 5 1/2" tall and I guess its based on the famous one. But is this by Bergman?

The mark seems to be inspired by the Bergmann foundry mark, rather than actual Bergmann. It is also not as finely executed as the Bergmann bronzes I've seen, but let's wait for the others.

It says 'after Franz Bergman', which means it isn't by Franz Bergmann (foundry).
