Metal stuck in glass

Old hurricane lamp. Metal wick holder struck in glass. It's a simple press fit. Twist and pull to remove. However it's stuck and if i try too hard ill break the metal wick holder. Ideas?

This lamp was old when acquired by my parents in 1958. They used it frequently, but its just sat since i got it in year 2000. I don't use ac in my home so it exposed to the florida humidity.

Have you tried silicone spray (WD40)?

 

Maybe soak it in warm water ? I still cant get past the "I don't use ac in my home so it exposed to the florida humidity."! Being a floridian,not having ac is inconceivable!

 

It may be cemented in place from dried gummed up kerosene. Maybe soak it for a while upside down in some type of solvent that will break it down.

 

I used to go to my mom's house in south Florida for a few weeks in the winter every year, and could not have lived without it.

 

Kerosene lamp with a screwed in brass collar. As stated, WD or silicone will loosen the collar (let soak) then gently unscrew the collar. Then same goes for the wick.
