In 2015, sold for $600, 6 Bids. Mount said to be 10K. It doesn't cost anything to register with LiveAuctioneers.

    Condition
wear to cameo, some dents to mount, bent pin stem

Their 'wear to cameo' is what you are seeing that makes it look less good than it probably was originally.

$600 was the hammer price. Buyer had to pay the premium, $744, & if they bid over the Internet possibly another 3%, shipping...

As always, @Bronwen, you've given some great info. I had no idea that there were names for which way the cameo subject faced! AND I had no idea that LiveAuctioneers offers sold prices for free. I just assumed there would be a fee for that.

So I registered with LiveAuctioneers and am browsing through the sold cameos, with highest price listed first.
How the heck did THIS one get 58 bids and reach $5700???

I had to check for myself, but now I think I remember pointing it out to some other people at the time. It started at $1, had only 1 watcher, there were 58 bids. What do we make of this, boys & girls? I know what I make of it, money laundering, or some Trump family style of moving money around within the family, or the Family.

And blummz, I'm sure you took note of the one that is currently next below it? The 14K mount & diamonds on the habille cameo account for some of it, but still... :)

    This one is also suspect:

There are 21 cameos; the description does not represent that all mounts are gold. They sold to a single bidder for €4,100, which was only half the low end of the estimated range of €8,2000 - €20,500(!), still, an average price of €195 each, exclusive of premium. Only a few of the cameos themselves have much of any value. Auctioneer is in Latvia.

Not antique, or even vintage, but a unique subject matter (commissioned by married artists Miller and Shellabarger):

Some couples leave it at writing their own vows. Too funny. Feel like I've seen a photo before, maybe Pinterest, without an explanation.

The difference a good photo can make. Three years ago this cameo sold as part of an 8 cameo lot that went for about $2,950, with buyer's premium.

It subsequently sold for £2200 (in the neighborhood of $2,750) when offered by itself with this photo:

I know a good photo will definitely influence how much I'm willing to risk when I'm considering the purchase of something I cannot view in person.
Unfortunately for me, I don't have a good camera. :sorry:

This cameo came to my mother from her mother but neither had any idea where it started out. There are no marks on it at all that I can see. I'd like to know how old it is if possible. Photos taken in a hurry, sorry, trust they are enough. Any thoughts? DSCN0332.JPG DSCN0338 (2).JPG DSCN0339 (2).JPG

She's extremely pretty, guessing also fairly small? She is 'hardstone', layered agate, that has been dyed to get that green color. These sea-green ones seem to date roughly 1890 - 1920; the findings, the hinge & clasp, on yours suggest the earlier end of that range. She is the goddess Demeter/Ceres:

If you go back to page 4 of this thread, post #69, you will see another similar one, except the goddess Artemis/Diana.

The Japanese just have a whole other relationship with Disney:

Bronwen, thank you very much indeed. I`ve always wondered about milady`s age but of course never did much about it. The lady in the page four post you refer to is also very pretty. She has that same sort of delicate, translucent pure whiteness, if that is a word, as my girl. My cameo isn`t big, about an inch or slightly more top to bottom. A tad heavy though for her size. I`d love to know how she came into the family. Oh well.

Afraid I can't help you with that aspect. The Diana on pg 4 belongs to me. She is also about an inch tall & became luminous once she was cleaned up.

All but one of the back; only one of the front, like most of them, out of focus. Really ordinary cameo in simple silver frame. Starting at $500?!! Seller has 0 feedback. Think it's going to stay at 0 with this selling strategy.
