Anyone recognize this old ceramic figure?

I believe that he might have come from an art museum in Ohio where my mother worked in the '60's. She either bought it or was gifted it. It's broken and glued back together, and appears to be painted. The museum occasionally received items to sell on consignment and donations so it could be from anywhere. There isn't any writing on it.
I'm just curious if anyone has a guess about where it's from and how old it is.
    Thanks!

Doesn't look like ceramic. Guessing terracotta, but this is not my thing. But I bet @Any Jewelry will know what you have.

It is a replica of a pre-Columbian Nayarit terracotta, from Mexico. Replica, or 'made in the style of'. It could have been from the museum gift shop.

Terracotta is ceramic, in fact it translates as "baked earth".

And if you don't know what kind of ceramic it is, it is terra incognita.:joyful:
