Hello all! My father died last week and i inherited this gun. If you all can give me any information about it I would really appreciate it.
sincere condolences ..........double barrel shotgun, that looks well used. it may require a Remington gun forum , to get the most precise info...
I'm so sorry for your loss....it's ALWAYS hard to lose a parent..... Here's a for starters on that squiggly stamp, which i inverted to read easier and looks like it says: REMINGTON ARMS CO -ILION, N.Y. U.S.A.-
Very sorry about your dad. Looks like a nice gun with lots of character. Is that the Remington coat of arms? Look for the serial number (as the best bet to know exactly) Something like this: https://www.gunsinternational.com/g...from-the-early-mid-1890s.cfm?gun_id=101285226
I don't know if this is anything significant or not, but, this LOOKS like it COULD be writing (OR NOT)...or just dirt.....but if you clean it be careful not to lose any potential written or scratched in/on info!!
Looks dry as a bone - invest in some gun cleaner for the barrels then gun oil for the entire gun - maybe some kind of wood oil for the furniture. (Wood on a rifle is referred to as furniture)
of course......that's correct.... I have a Fractoscriptytoic condition where I write 9 after 8 unless in the middle of a number unless it's a double 8 which turns into a 9 but only when a one at the beginning is followed by a 8 that will not appear at the end.....but only on a leap year where the additional 29 throws off the balance between 8 's and nines during the course of the winter.... sorry...
Definitely one hell of a complex condition.. We can only hope that they start with medical trials soon.
Good that you noticed that. That gun came in different gauges, and the different gauges had different barrel lengths. Are both sides the same gauge? Seems unusual.
