I bought this and cannot read the signature, can you? It came from Ohio. Don't know anything else. I assume it is obsidian, as it is fairly light. B107D5B0_7C8B_4595_8AA6_9918E998CAC9_1_201_a__1641783414_26748.jpg

It's an artisan signature. Could be anyone, anywhere for all I'd know. It doesn't look Israeli or Scandinavian, but beyond that I haven't a clue.

What about it makes you think it is obsidian & not black onyx?

If you look at it from the side, do you see some translucency?

I will look again when it is lighter out, but although very shiny, I don't see any translucency. So obsidian has some translucent. Good to know. Thank you. I guessed obsidian because I thought it was lighter weight than it should be, however, feeling it again and given the thinness, maybe it is still onyx.

Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

Was it made in Ohio? Or was it purchased from somebody there?
Can't help much with the signature... you may not be able to find out, unless somebody happens to be familiar with the artisan and recognizes it. Stranger things have happened!

Very nice :) Looks like a craft piece, probably artisan made and sold at a craft fair.

Purchased there. Don't know where it was made. I was thinking the initials look like SA then I think it is YDA. It is quite hard to read.
