Featured Four Perfume Bottles - Questions

I have seen many of these in estate sales. I have to admit, I am old school and while I never bought one for myself, except the jewelry casket that sometimes comes with them and is quite handy, I always took a liking to the charm and elegance of these bottles and accessories.

 

I agree. They evoke in me, the beauty of times past. Fashion changes in everything.

 

Sorry, Kiko, I could not put up a tree year. The vast majority of my ornaments are still packed away.

Maybe. I was able to "make" a "tree" from $4 worth of evergreen trimmings - some Frazier, some Noble Fir. They do smell nice!

 

One of the reasons I buy a tree too is the smell. But also to be able to look at the decorations. I've seen people hang their decorations on ribbons in their window in lieu of a tree. They make a tree shape. That way they and their neighbors get to enjoy them.

 

All these perfume bottles & atomizers are evocative of the time & lifestyle when a woman had a vanity table with all the requisite accoutrements.

I'm having real trouble getting into the holiday spirit this year & I think a big part of it is the lack of that evergreen smell in my apartment. Not sure there's a tree lot anywhere near me.

 

I'd agree it's not a typical Mdina stopper. It does look Maltese though, so maybe Mtarfa, Valletta or MDG even.

 

My mother had a vanity table with matching cosmetic and perfume containers as well as elegant perfume bottles. These changed as new designs came in favor. She always smelled of Ponds cold cream, though, when we kissed her goodnight. That must have been in a drawer.

Great tracking down. The donor must have been a fan of perfumes that were in Silvestri bottles. Lucky me that they decided to donate them.
You are part of the reason I have so many, as you know. If you didn't take such joy in them and share it here, I wouldn't be snatching them up as fast. It's all your fault.
