The mystery of any sale...........what will I find?

There certainly have been many that I've attended that have been a waste of time, but the ones that held treasures outweigh them.

Try it.....you might just find something you could use......doesn't have to necessarily be for resale, but a bargain that one could actually use.

    There are untold treasures!
Gold, silver, antiques, rare collectibles, old shoes, broken plastic junk, outdated magazines..... everything you would ever want and more!

Even NOS NIP tube socks which we hated seeing at sales are now fashionable again or collectible again and sellable again.. Who would have thunk that?

And sometimes there is the F word. Furniture as well.

Yeah, I think I will PASS on garage sales!
Has already ESTABLISHED the FIRST RULE!
I pass by them while driving, mostly on the weekends with their various tables set up with JUNK piled on them, clothes racks, etc and a small herd of women milling around........ I keep right on driving, nothing there for me, that's for sure.

Yes, I've seen it, the kind of furniture you have to PAY people to haul away!:hilarious:

Yup! I've seen that furniture too! So, it's then onto the next sale. Sometimes one that hasn't been advertised in the paper, but just a tacked up on a tree sign.............and one that's fantastic!

However, I respect your reluctance.......so I'll stop trying to convince you. We love you just the way you are!

Around here, there are just as many men at these sales as women.

    But to each their own.

‘Where there’s muck there’s brass’ is said in Yorkshire in U.K. but I think Davey said money instead of brass, both expressions are used.

Yes, I avoid all this unpleasantness of fussing over junk by adhering to the FIRST RULE of garage sales. :)
But hey, if fussing over junk trips your trigger, go for it!
Just be aware that you are VIOLATING the FIRST RULE!:hilarious:

I'm chuckling James.........love your sense of humor!

You're off the hook, but please, if you ever DO stop at one and find something wonderful, you will let us know?????

Or, even if you don't find something wonderful, please let us know that you did stop...perhaps at our urgings...just to prove us wrong and you correct............

Sorry Judy, It's just not gonna happen. I have enough trouble getting rid of my junk, never mind purchasing someone else's.:sorry:

I have gone to garage sales wherein the tables were filled with junk. But sometimes, there is just one great treasure amongst the junk. Of course it matters what each of us considers treasure.

It happened a few times this past summer.
Garage sales are not for everyone, but after being in so much with Covid any excuse to be outside in nice weather was welcoming.

I just got rid of a lot of Fiesta ware Judy. I have had it for probably 15 years or more.
I got it at a temple rummage sale and after that Fiesta ware tanked. Plus it was so heavy to ship, that was a nightmare. I saved a few mugs for myself but the rest is all gone now.

I gave my super all of it. No fuss no muss out of my cabinets so I have more room here. I should have done it sooner. Now to fill the shelves with my newer vintage stuff.

Oh Yes! I can see the allure here, purchasing junk that you shuffle from one cabinet to another for years, then give said junk away at a loss so you can restart the entire process!
GOT TO KEEP THAT JUNK MOVING!:hilarious:

    I get it Pearls..............

The most I've done about getting rid of stuff, is think about it, and what a mess the kids will be in if I don't.

At one time I used to think how rich they'll be.............LOL!

I still love my stuff...........but the things I don't love........well there's no reason to hang on to it.

Except I really do just hate to give it away.

I'm in a small shop, so I have somewhere to sell it, but it's not moving very much or well either...............What I used to make money on, is not what most are looking for today.
