That is my association with Post-Modern, and I agree, none of OPs items bear any resemblance to PM.

That’s about as PM as it gets! The problem IMO with defining PM is that it’s probably the only ism that isn’t easily defined and people argue about it all the time. I do believe that Memphis Milano and those that followed most strongly represent the movement but there are far quieter classically PM objects and architecture that have nothing to do with color. The first one that comes to my mind is 550 Madison Ave. in NY. I’ve always felt I had a pretty good handle on what qualifies as PM but dang if I can totally explain it other than it’s modern without the austerity of minimalism, frequently incorporates bright color and often nods to the past as clearly shown in the iconic PM Johnson/Burgee building.

I've always wished I had a giant dime to put in the top of that building.

A few basic descriptions cobbled together from the web:

In the 1960s, artists and architects started rejecting modernism. Rather than focusing on serious, objective designs free of subject, they started breaking rules. Which rules? Any and all of them! Postmodernist art and architecture started celebrating color, texture, and subject, all with a hint of whimsy and irony. Postmodernism celebrated everything unconventional, flashy, complex, and weird, and often prioritized form over function.

As a furniture example, without the bright colors associated with Memphis Milano, here's a chair I picked up yesterday that I would call Postmodern. It was made by a Canadian company in the 90s, the tail end of the PoMo era, and a good example of form over function.

Hello again!! Sorry, did not get alerts to the messages....SO....I didn't end up bidding or getting them. However, I did buy a bunch of other stuff and scored bigtime on a vintage pyrex bowl! Well, "big time" in my own mind....LOL!

I do have an upcoming auction with several MCM items I'm going to go on soon, and based on everyone's insightful answers I believe I am getting better at determining different styles....stay tuned, I'm sure I'll be back with more questions.

Thanks for the update. Other discussions on this site have taught me that some Pyrex is really desirable.
