Hi Everyone! I hope you are all doing well and I hope you all had a great Thanksgiving!

I need your help with this unmarked piece. It is sterling silver and. I don’t know if this is from Mexico or elsewhere, and if you could also help me with the age since I’m not a expert at these things. Thank you so much for your help and enjoy your Sunday.

It is the Sun symbol from the Kalasasaya or Gate of the Sun in Tiwanaku (Tiahuanaco), Bolivia.

    It dates from 500-950 BC.

It looks like an older piece, but if it is sterling silver it is likely to be more recent than it looks. Older Bolivian silver is usually 900, if I'm correct.
It is beautiful though, I would have bought it too.
We don't have Thanksgiving in Europe, but I hope you had a good time.:)

LOL-we pretty much ignored it this year. Our usual invite included 25 indoors so we passed.

I thought you guys celebrated it. You are in england right? also it tested sterling so it could be 900

If it is sterling, it is likely to be after ca 1975. But it looks 1950s-60s to me, which is why I was confused when you said sterling. Is there a mark anywhere?

There is a slight chance it was made in neighbouring Peru, in which case it could be sterling and 1950s.

A wiki page on the Gate of the Sun, for all of you who would like to find out more, or visit:

    I'm in the Netherlands.
Thanksgiving is associated with the Pilgrim Fathers, who did live here after they fled from England, but thought Dutch Protestants not strict enough. Which is why they left for the New World, where they could be as strict as they wanted without having to be confronted with people who enjoyed life. Or so they thought....
