    Hello,

Wanted to get your opinion on this one. :)

I purchased this for my "Circus" album, which is mostly sideshow and acrobats, but I thought this guy may have fallen into the category. I do have an oddity album so it's not like it wouldn't fit in that one just in case ;)

    It's by C.D. Fredricks & Co

(Which is known for actors and circus photos out of NY, though it had a Paris office as well)

Any opinions or insight would be wonderful!
    Warm Regards,

Or a guy advertising for a wife; they say beard length is a good indicator of ability to make babies.

I am afraid the looks of that beard would certainly lessen my desire for any "baby making". LOL Can you imagine what must be growing in that thing? Especially back when people were somewhat less into grooming?

Actually, these gentlemen vowed to never cut their beards until the Grits came in.

(See: the sub-story of Miss Cornelia and Marshall Elliott -- Anne's House of Dreams," L.M. Montgomery. LOL!)

Silver, when I read that about "grits" I, being from Mississippi, immediately thought of the food grits and my first thought was "well, they must be in there somewhere!" I googled Miss Cornelia and Marshall Elliott -- Anne's House of Dreams" and found this meaning of the word grits. LOL

My same thought!! I am also a Mississippian though not a born Mississippian, only a displaced Yankee who has been here nearly 50 years.

LOL! Note the capital G. That would be like capitalizing Scrapple.

    :)

Susan, I think I read that you are up close to Memphis? I grew up in central MS about half way between Jackson and Yazoo City.

    Claudia, welcome to these forums!

Yes, up near Memphis in DeSoto County - the northern reaches of the state. As you say you "grew up" in MS, I take it you are no longer in the Maganolia State? Hmmmmm, between Jackson & Yazoo City, you were probably from Flora, Bentonia or another town along US 49 that are in the counties of Madison or Yazoo - a good 185 miles south of me.

    Hi Silver,
Scrapple does not have to be capitalized, it needs to be Banned for ever. The only grosser than scrapple is haggis. Oh and Brussel sprouts.

Susan, I grew up in Bentonia. My first husband is from Flora. I haven't lived in MS since 1971. My mother and one of my brothers still live in Bentonia. I did live for about 3 years in Columbus which is not too far from you. I am currently in PA which is too cold! I totally miss the south but hope to move back down there somewhere this summer - probably Texas.

Beards make me gag. My brother came to visit me a couple years ago and wore a beard, he looked like Santa:arghh::arghh::arghh:

Gregsglass, I see your "scrapple" reference and raise you one (or more) in the "food" category.

For second-year Latin class one of my favorite papers I wrote was on Roman food and meals. I also made the required oral presentation of that paper.

Gagging sounds filled the classroom when I told of one of the foods of ancient Rome which was served on "special" occasions: cooked cow's udder with fresh asparagus stuffed into the "tubular protrusions" of an udder. ;)

Not the most appetizing. I had a book here about cooking in the Seychelles that had bat recipes in it. I'd rather eat cow udder.

Hey, Greg! Is scrapple beginning to sound better?

    Hi Silver,
NOPE scrapple is awful. I have eaten cows utter, better than tripe. Bats do not sound too bad, after all they are only mice angels. So they must be heavenly.
