I found this heavy silver looking necklace with turquoise. On the back is a stamp CF and NAT. But can I find silver Mark 73775239-5144-44F9-AEEC-0E3DCB9CB194.jpeg 0F352E53-1BFD-4154-82DC-5E337D679819.jpeg 45BA871B-FE56-4498-9ABF-17C81AB0285C.jpeg . It is not magnetic. Any thoughts?

Yes, as Hollyblue said it could have been made by anyone unless the stamp is identified. Are you sure it’s CF? I’d guess first name F and last name G and after almost 50 years of collecting NA jewelry. I’d put money on the table that it’s Navajo although you definitely cannot sell it as such so if you are selling it just list it as Vintage Southwestern Turquoise Silver Necklace Beads and everyone who collects that category will find it.

It's possible someone named Nate bought those necklace bits pre-made and just assembled the necklace. If so, Southwestern would be the appropriate term for it.

It's definitely Navajo style. I hope it's okay to mention another site here that shares questions about Native American jewelry, crafts, and arts? Maybe if you find some answers you could let us know what you found out.

It’s definitely Navajo style if not Navajo but one cannot legally use those terms if selling on the internet. Navajo style is reportable keyword spam which may or may not result in fines and a removed listing. As already stated, the piece is Southwestern unless the initials are identified as a Navajo silversmith.

Agree, it looks Navajo. The mark is not in my books though.:(
Some of us are members of that forum. For some reason I never got any answers to my queries there, and found more knowledgeable people here. Maybe I just buy the wrong jewellery.:playful:
I must add that @reader really knows her SW NA jewellery.

I can't offer any info since I don't know Navajo or SouthWest jewelry but... since no one's mentioned it yet... anyone else see a face (eyes and nose) in the shape and placement of the big bits? :wideyed:

I don’t think it was restrung and do believe it was intended as a three element necklace. I believe it’s Navajo but it can’t be sold as such legally. Meanwhile, it’s attractive, has beautiful turquoise, is nicely executed and has some age. Someone will happily give it a home if it’s being sold.

It is definitely old. The previous owner collected jewelry in the 70s and 80s and most of the stuff was already age. I’d love to find out if it’s authentic and it is gorgeous. I posted on the turquoise bored but I’m waiting for a result. Thank you all for your input I have a ton more turquoise much of which appears to be similar.

It was an immediate impression for me. So much so, that I thought it was intentional.

In NA jewelry 70s forward has age but is not old. That necklace IMO is 70s at the oldest. I don’t remember seeing that construction until the 80s when squashes went pretty quiet and some couldn’t take the weight or volume.

I meant that she was collecting then. What does a squash mean? Is that mean that the turquoise is crushed and then they use a stabilizer like epoxy to bring it back together?
