I purchased this framed embroidery at auction. I'm having a terrible time deciphering the label. I can't make out the second handwritten word so if anyone is able to do so, please let me know! Also, any ideas as to style/age of this piece? I've researched the gallery and to quote the Smithsonian: "Eva Lee was born circa 1924. She fled from Nazi Germany to the United States, becoming an art dealer and the owner of the Eva Lee Gallery, Inc. Located in Great Neck, New York, the Eva Lee Gallery specialized in modern art and handled the work of many prominent artists including Alexander Calder, Lyonel Feininger, George Grosz, Marsden Hartley, Jacob Lawrence, Ben Shahn, and Max Weber. The gallery was in operation through the first half of 1973." Ms. Lee passed away in 1973 in Terre Haute, IN. Thank you for any help you're able to give! Hoop grid seems very plausible! Thank you!

Looking at the second line, I doubt "Hoop." The writer made other o's as circles. The 2 letters are either n's or u's.

That's exactly why I'm so confused! The n's look like u's to me. But hoop grid does make sense in regard to the work being embroidered. Also, I wonder if Eva wrote that herself (you never know), that it's a reflection of German most likely being her first language.

I’m wondering if it is “Hand done” in another language? Not German, though.

'Hungria' is Hungary in Spanish & probably some other languages.

I think you solved the mystery! A quick glance at Hungarian embroidery tells me you're most likely correct. Thank you! Truly appreciate it!
