They seem to be specialised in Himalayan art, which is all the way to the north, Tibet, Nepal, Bhutan.;)
The Indian Subcontinent is huge, with a great diversity of ethnicities and cultures, and this litttle guy is from the south, a long way from the Himalayas.
People specialised in Himalayan art will generally not be able to tell you much about Jain art.

Himalayan art is the core of their collection, but their exhibitions are wide ranging. Wiki characterizes them this way:

'The Rubin Museum of Art, also known as the Rubin Museum is a museum dedicated to the collection, display, and preservation of the art and cultures of the Himalayas, the Indian subcontinent...'

I did a search through their collection and didn't find any Jain bronzes. In fact I couldn't find anything from Southern India, which is where Jain art is from, so nothing related stylistically.
Jain art is a specific and separate specialisation.
I always think it is best to ask a museum that has items from the specific culture and region in their collection, to eliminate the chance of an Antiques Roadshow style 'guessing game' by museum experts.;)

    The V&A have Jain bronzes:

    The Met has them too:

If you are willing to pay:nailbiting: , here is a Dutch appraiser who lists Jain art as one of his specialties. English language site:

I've contacted the above appraiser, plus one of the museums. Thought you'd like to read the reply I received from Peter Debruijn Screenshot_20211116-110718_Email.jpg

I think I'll take the plunge and pay for the appraisal, hopefully, I'll recoup the money when I sell it :)

No idea what these things are really worth. A 100 euros sounds like alot of money at first.. But I fully agree with the way you think and would have done the same.. This statue sounds really rare and with a valuation report from a reputable company/person surely serious collectors with pay big money (I would think) But that’s really just my 2 cents..

Also for me the key would be to find the right auction house and then time the ‘right’ auction.. In my country some of the bigger and reputable auction houses will do a free assessment and valuation of a rare item (but only if you guarantee them that you will be selling the item in their auction)

Wonderful, good to have it confirmed
You will, don't worry. Jain bronzes are rare and very collectible, although it is considered a niche market. But it is a niche with deep pockets.:playful:
You could also wait for the museum, but they won't tell you an approx value, which Peter de Bruijn will.

Wonderful! I hope he can also give an estimation of the period, and narrow down the specific region.
    You're welcome, AnMarie.:)
