Benin Bronze Leapard replica?

    I picked it up at the thrift store because it was a heavy metal figure and I'm a reseller. I google lens it and it pulls up benin bronze leopard figures. I'm sure it must be a replica or something but really any input or information is appreciated. 20211119_011737.jpg 20211119_011732.jpg

    Not a high quality casting. Almost certainly a relatively modern reproduction, as you suspect. It could have been made in West Africa by modern artisans, in the Benin style. Or could have been made almost anywhere. It almost looks like it might be made of cast iron, rather than the traditional bronze/copper alloy. Does it attract a magnet?

    It does not. When cleaned up a bit it does look like copper in places.
