True Isaac Israels Donkey Riding Beach Series?

This took some time and several attempts trying to figure out this signature..

I didn't have any q-tips, but I had spit and a soft paper towel, and like I've seen suggested here, used it to clean away the signature. Not much came clean, but I could manage a "aac" in the first name and an "s" at the end of the 2nd, so I got on artist signatures and began going through every letter and hitting on first names that had "aac" then googling.

That's when these guys popped up

This is the piece I have, and I wish I would have realized I didn't get a better overall picture before I left, but at the time I was just trying to get pictures to manipulate the coloring on my phone for the signature.


It is signed on the lower left hand corner



I haven't been luck manipulating the photos to get the signature to stand out better, yet.

I'll take a better overall picture tomorrow.


It's painted on a piece of canvas like material that has been glued to an old chamfered edge piece of wood.

From what yall can see, do you think it's genuine?

 

Just from the pictures you are showing, I would guess yours is not Isreals. The others are more loosely painted, the shapes in yours more tightly defined.

the boys stance
the horses from legs and chest.....

none of that looks right......

I think I see what yall are saying, the brush strokes are more "choppy" and defined..

@SeaGoat, RE: 'girl riding the donkey', the proportions of donkey, woman and boy/man in the one you found that you believe is the original, all seem to be PRETTY WELL PROPORTIONED!!! WHEREAS, the other one of the same image grouping that looks to be a copy are each out of proportion......

 

Mine, I feel, looks more foal like, while the others do take on the smaller grumpy Donkey look

 

As a longtime staunch Isaac Israëls fan, I am a bit depressed now.

Because it is nothing like the easy, artistic, free, Impressionist style of Isaac Israëls.
