Snake or lizard? Either way it was a chunky animal! would 1930 ish be about right do you think?
Any idea of where this would be made?
    Thanks for looking :)

Those bags with the inbuilt purse are very 30s into 40s. That's a nice one.

Respectfully are you certain it’s snake? It’s pieced so it’s tough for me but when I try and blow it up I think it’s pieced ring lizard.

Hm. We've always called it snake, but I'll entertain possibilities. ;) Given it's in the UK, I'm not sure ring lizard is that likely?

On a larger screen I think I’m just looking at discoloration but regardless it looks more like lizard to me than snake. Ring lizard is patterned with literal rings. It’s a pricey lizard and used in shoes and bags. A855EDB5-C6B1-4D7B-9C1B-F7127891E8D7.jpeg

It’s definitely not croc or gator. I don’t think it’s snake but it’s snake or lizard.

Some of the scales are minute, then those huge ones on the front?

That sea turtle handbag in the link is amazing!
Goes without saying that it would have looked much better on the turtle but you can see why it was sought after.

I'd think iguana, the larger scales on the tab from the jawline...

Maybe-I can go with that but I think best to just call it lizard.

That pic does it for me too! Remember to use lizard too. People search lizard bags more than iguana alone if you’re selling it on the internet.
