    Hello,

A good while ago my father inherited some antique furniture from his parents home. Unfortunately we know little about them. Except that they came from their attic, so we believe some of it could be very old. My father said he knows that his grandmother owned some of these. I was hoping someone could help identify some of it and possibly tell us what we could sell it for. I know furniture does not sell well but the market for antique furniture seems to fair a little better if I am not mistaken.

Like I said it is unfortunate but I cannot say a lot about any of these. This is a cedar wardrobe closet/cabinet that my grandfather had an old cavalry sword and uniform in. At this time we only really want to get rid of the closet but may post the other stuff eventually.

This is just the key that goes to the previous closet.

This is an old cane chair.

As you may be able to see this is just an old trunk/chest, does not seem very sturdy but know it is old.

This another cane chair/rocking chair. We know a little about this one because it has a name printed on it. I forgot what it was and will have look again when I am in the closet. I know we got excited over this one because a similar one sold on an auction show for a lot of money. It was the same name but that chair was 1 of X and had an engraving at the very top of the chair.

We could never figure out much about any of these. So any help and aid would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome Fox. I agree, with komo, it doesn't look very valuable, but I do like the chairs. They need someone who loves to rescue old chairs.

Thanks for the response. So I wish I could tell you where it came from. As I said before really all I have to go on is that it was in my grandparents attic and at least some of it was my great grandmothers. So it is safe to say this stuff is probably pretty old.

The furniture is located in Northern Virginia. Yes, I could arrange for the items to be picked up or transport them myself. I have a truck with a long bed.

    EDIT:
I made this post earlier but it looks like I was not signed in so it posted as a guest or something.

So I just went to look at it earlier and the sticker on it (which is just barley legible) reads H.Z.M & Co. for anyone wondering.

I guess I should have said except for this cane chair. I remember doing a search for it a long time ago and we did find stuff. I remember finding stuff really close to it. To be honest, I do not think anyone could sit in this chair because the 'cane weaving' is just so old it would just break. If I remember correctly we searched some of the other stuff for tags as well and couldn't find much.

Agree, not a lot of value here. The wardrobe would be functional and could fit with rustic decor. Maybe $100 at best. Woven seat chair seems to have some age and condition problems commensurate with same. Under $20, as a decor item. Trunk is not particularly old. Maybe $15 for someone who wants the storage. Rocker is circa 1930. If caning is serviceable, maybe $20 or so to the right person wanting to clean it up. These values are based on my Midwest esperience. You may do better in or near a large city. Worse in Podunkville or at auction.

Thanks for letting me know. We have been wanting to get rid of them for some time now, but wanted to make sure we were not discarding something that could be potentially worth a lot of money.

So I talked to my father and we decided to keep the wardrobe closet. It is mostly empty so we can probably gain some storage space at least. Having that said, we would like to get rid of the rest of the stuff. If anyone is interested please let me know, I would take anything reasonable for them. Because they are either going to get broken during our Spring cleaning next season or eventually thrown away.

Thank you for letting me know. I guess my previous post violates this?

If so is it also against the policy to say something like "if anyone is interested in anything please PM me."?
