Wondering if it had any value by way of interest, as I don't think the condition rates it as being financially worth much of ANYTHING......I know there are a couple of you young ladies out there interested in cookbooks who might offer some input?? THANK YOU SO MUCH as ALWAYS!!!
Let me take a look see if I can find the same year. And I will let ya know. It can always be sold as a tattered book if nothing else.
I took a fast look and found one sold on etsy in a bit better shape for $20 https://www.etsy.com/listing/557642...how_sold_out_detail=1&ref=nla_listing_details I am by no means an expert. I sold a book falling apart not too long ago, Better Homes and Gardens Cookbook that was printed during war time. Not for a lot of $$ tho. I know that did not help much but to me cookbooks are history and it is always a shame to see them so beaten up like that. But time is not kind to cookbooks that get used a lot by homemakers. The Settlement Cookbooks (the old ones) really fall apart and yet they sell. But not for much. I am rambling. Whatever you decide much good luck.
Here is another one that is currently on etsy https://www.etsy.com/listing/927943...-boston-cooking?ref=shop_home_active_98&frs=1
Looks like Aqui's copy is the first printing of the second edition (completely revised). Due to the condition I don't think it has much value as a collectible. However, as mentioned by others, the recipes, and the number of others others of that edition that are available, will factor into a selling price. I do like cookbooks. Not being an actual collector I would accept any edition if I like the recipes. I am squeamish about condition, though. Unless it had been owned by my own grandmother or something like that.
Thank You ALL!!!! Due to the condition, I honestly didn't think there was much of ANY value....just in looking through it could see it wasn't any first edition! Interesting!! The second one you found isn't in a whole lot better shape than mine!!! But I don't have any venue I sell on, anyway!! But that looks like a decent price!!! AND now I don't remember where the heck I put it....but it can't be too far............I did those pictures before I banged my head!!!
Yeahwell. I buy beat-up old cookbooks but I hoard those for myself. I like the ones with handwriting all over them, preferably two or more peoples'. There's one sitting here in Swedish that someone got about when Titanic sank. I can't read the recipes, but the flyleaves are covered in pictures, writing, and glued-in bits that make it as much a historic document as a cookbook.
