I acquired a small lot of Chinese Opera related ephemera a while back and mixed in the lot was this postcard. I naturally assumed she was Chinese because of the other items in the lot. Now I'm second guessing myself (I tend to do that), probably all for nil. It's made by Leonar (German company) and probably dates between 1920 and 1935 maybe. The name on the back turns up nothing. I'm listing this along with some other items at auction tomorrow night and I don't want to list a Japanese woman as Chinese, lol. :)

And I am sure they'll thank you on both sides of the Sea of Japan.;)
There is the name, as Debora said, and both she and her headdress look Chinese.:)

Thanks everyone. She is Chinese as I first thought, good. It's strange that Phaik Hooi mentioned her being an actress. That was my first thought also for no particular reason. I haven't found a match yet though and I've been on that mission for a couple hours almost so I'm about over it. .99 starting bid tonight, we'll see how it goes.

Nice postcard. There weren't too many older postcards in the lot. Several modern Chinese opera postcard booklets. Most of the stuff is from the 50's to the early 70's.
