Good Morning Everyone! Can You Please Help Me With Markings On a Cameo? Thank You!

Hi Everyone! I hope you are all doing well!

I have this genuine garnet on a 900 silver cameo brooch pendant. There are these hand marked markings that could be roman numerals or the makers mark. I hope someone will be able to help me with this. As always in advance, thank you for all your responses and enjoy your day.

 

The cameo looks 1950s, does not represent anyone in particular. If back is concave, it is shell.

Any idea what the Roman numeral XVII mean other than 17??? At least that's what I see.... course that doesn't mean I'm correct!!!

Hope our jewellery generalists will weigh in on this question. The cameo will be Italian but the setting is most likely from elsewhere. It is very solidly made. The garnet surround makes me lean to Europe, but really not sure.

 

It would relate to the setting, not to the cameo, so out of my realm.

 

It is a typical 20th century Bohemian/Czech setting for Bohemian garnet jewellery. The cameo would have been imported from Italy, and mounted in Czechoslovakia. Many such pieces were exported. The numerals could stand for the model or type of mount.
