Listed as a saw tool , but I am not seeing that , has what looks like an adjustable, removable cutting edge not unlike a lathe cutting head .

I'm going with a vintage saw blade (tooth) sharpener. The insert could very well be from a metal lathe tooling holder. I have no idea though how it actually works

Maybe for setting the teeth of a saw (To reestablish the angle of the tooth)

The seller is just guessing . I may have figured this out . The removable die is marked #45 and looks like a metal drawing die . It looks like you put a wire through it to a certain length that is measured by the sliding bar and then cut off the wire . I THINK they are some sort of jewelry / Jewelers pliers for something to do with wire ...... @Any Jewelry , have any ideas ???? Or maybe watchmakers tool , I resharpen and set saws for a hobby, I don't think they have anything to do with saws.,,,,, but I could be wrong, it happened once before ( LOL) .

It doesn't look like anything used for jewelry.

But the die does resemble a wire drawing die . I am talking Jewelers or watch makers tools circa 1890 to 1930 ... It has age . Interesting to note , there was a "W. Maack" in San Francisco in 1896 who was a member of the Olympic club and raced Bicycles...possibly a spoke cutter ??? I am determined to find out what this is .....lol

Now, CAN OPENER crossed my mind, and the seller says the person she got it from worked for a can manufacturer......it may have something to do with that.
