    Hello friends xx
I picked this up yesterday, on the off chance it was meershaum.
( For some reason, always wanted one.)
    It's got issues,obviously,bit broken off.
I did some *research* and what I've seen doesn't exclude meershaum but you know I get confuzzled easily.
I took a black light to the stem ( should have taken a pic!) and it did have a sort of blue-ish haze.
It's very light. I read that fakes were made of plaster of paris sometimes, I don't think it's that.
It's 7 inches underneath ( 19 cms) and the handsome face is just under 3 inches (7 and half cms) and in total height it's about five inches (13 cms)
    No seam x

( Got more pics if required)

Whilst I'm here, what's this bottle thing? Picked it up also yesterday as looked 'tresting
Three and a half inches across the bottom ( 9 cms) and 7 inches down ( 18 cms) including the rubber thing. The rubber's completely perished.
It has a sort of rectangle underneath which can only be seen at a rakish angle. Cannot see what writing if any is in it at all.

I wonder if the glass is Ottoman/Muslim water sprinkler? I see a star and crescent moon.

Thank you Laura. I did half wonder if it were maybe Muslim related due to the crescent moon and star but I am in a maze of ignorance always! Thank you again xxx

Maybe for rose water or orange blossom water, used to refresh your hands after a meal or add to your tea:)
Your pipe does absolutely seems to be meerschaum, unused, so still very white:cyclops:

I think this pipe is meershaum (hopefully I'll be able to spell it after this) I read somewhere it's a sort of fossilised ... something?

    Thank you xxx

    I agree, a hookah base.
And another vote for meerschaum.:) It is beautiful. Most of these pipes are made in Turkey, which is also where the meerschaum is sourced.
He looks a bit like Omar Sharif, btw.

It is, and I agree, he is handsome.:)
There used to be a pipe-shop in our town, and when I was little I always wanted a meerschaum pipe, just because they were such little works of art.:joyful:

And about the Turkey-Omar Sharif link, years ago Scottish friends of my parents moved to Istanbul, and their teenage daughter went with them. The first day she went for a walk in their new neighbourhood, and when she returned she shouted: "Mum, there is an Omar Sharif on every streetcorner!":hilarious:

Omar Sharif is Egyptian of course, but we can't let that spoil a good story.:D

    My story about Meershaum.........

My father smoked one. I loved it as a child......white plain bowl with a yellow stem. I loved the aroma of pipe tobacco too.

My father worshiped that pipe.....it was very special to him.

I used to see him use a pair of scissors to clean out the bowl.......he must have been very careful in doing so, but I wasn't seeing "careful cleaning".

Well, one day, when he wasn't home, and I wanted to make good points with Daddy, I decided that I would clean the pipe with the scissors just like I used to see him do..............

That is one spanking I shall never forget. I guess I completely ruined it.........I don't believe he ever got another one............

He just could not see where I thought I was doing him a big favor and I have never stopped being sorry for doing that......nor have I ever forgotten it.

How old were you,Judy? We all do things we regret.
Can't say *I* have ever been helpful but I remember throwing talc on the freshly painted bathroom walls. (In fact even the wall was fresh,my dad had just finished building our bathroom.) No idea why I did it. I STILL question my motive. I got really told off. What was I thinking...? I had no reason to do it. I just Did. At least you were trying xxx

(Sorry @judy ,I typed Komo I meant you of course!!) xx

I have no idea why or even how at this point but when I was 17 I learned of meershaum, and of course with me, learning things exist is tantamount to wanting to own one. So I started hanging 'round a little tobacconists and buying a box of matches every month or so, so I had a legitimate reason to be there. I loved the scent and wanted a meershaum so badly but I never actually saw one. Did get a clay pipe for some reason, never have smoked so why I have no idea

    And Omar! YUM!!!

Oh those kids....My older sister threw me under the bus by carving my name into the piano. The trouble is, I was only three years old at the time...
