    Late 1800s.
    It's not a chest, but a trunk.
    Steamer trunk, barrel top trunk, Saratoga steamer trunk, dome top trunk are all descriptions for this type of trunk.

    Someone started to refinish it and found out it's a lot of work.

    Is the inside in good condition? Should have a tray.

    Late 19th century. Looks like it has been exposed to weather for quite awhile.

    Agrees, "sun bleached" looks like to me, some like that appearance.

    I agree with late 19th century, looks 1890-1910 to me.

    naaah.......I could see it being sun bleached on the top......but not with that consistency down the sides too !!
    Someone has messed with this fer sure..:inpain::):)
