Featured What is this doggie doing?

First thread and I hope I do it right! I picked up this little guy a. Because he is darned cute and b. because someone kept him intact and it was going to get wrecked on the shelf at the Salvation Army. Does anybody know anything about it? I’d like to know the wheres and whens it was made and especially if it had a purpose!

Puppers is about 2 inches high. Ceramic, I guess. The glass is thin and has a pinhole sized opening at the mouth. Disks holding the bottle on are cardboard.

 

Maybe he's getting into the milk bottle?

I love that pic! I did think of nipper when I picked him up but forgot when I got home

 

I could just be a barware item.
By twisting the ring in the back, will the bottle rotate to fill a shot glass?

An egg timer? Is the edge of the glass sharp from a break?

That’s it! Either a really clean break or somebody cared enough to sand it smooth. No sharpness or roughness at all! But that is definitely it! Thanks so much! I only paid 1.50 cdn for him and I love him just the way he is. But knowing is better
