Looks very old to me with those joints. Interested in hearing what the ‘furniture people’ are going to say

    It's a cradle.

Looks like a beautiful, restored and refinished babies rocker/cradle, mid to early 1800's from my guess.....

It is beautiful, appears that some sort os snap modification was added as a cover for the short end ( all I can see ) maybe canvas to keep out drafts. Darling piece.

Love the floor grate. Had one growing up outside kids bathroom that was in the corner of dining room downstairs. The request for paper necessities thru the grate was met with “ look b4 you sit” left a letter out. He was crude at times.!

Can you stand back and add a photo of the whole thing from the front?
Could be an old magazine rack.

Just a couple of wedge blocks to keep it from rocking now!

A cradle for a very thin and long baby.

You're right! But if one looks carefully, it appears that the original bedding came half way up so baby could grow to normal proportions.

It is, of course, a cradle. Size not given but likely for a real bably. Cradles often get listed as for dolls since they do not meet current regulations for a baby's bed. Looks like a refinished hardwood of some type (maple, birch?). Blocks added later to keep it from rocking. Mid 19th century is about right for this. Last old cradle I had (not quite as nice as this), had to end up selling for less than $20.00. Absolutely no interest at a higher price.

komokwa The Truth is out there...!

the air vent and old floor boards show it to be a full size baby cradle..
