Bear might be BC jade; the fish certainly looks like it, though the bear itself is darker and harder to ID in the photos.

I was thinking too that the fish was jade but unsure of the bear. He is a real deep dark green though. And heavy.

I've seen those bears before ... and bag them so fast when they show up. That malachite lump looks like specimen grade, but even so it's a find.

I've a small bear with salmon, carved jade. Bought him somewhere in BC. Kamloops?

Anyhoo, mined in BC, carved in China.

The bear looks like jet. The fish might be jade.

After 20 years of visiting my closest local thrift, I finally found my second piece of Sterling on their “silver-colored metal” shelves. This is a Gorham Strasbourg pattern Sterling mini open sugar bowl. Unfortunately, the creamer was not there! It cleaned up nicely and I’m trying to decide whether to keep it to house little incidentals or to attempt selling on. Yes, there’s a small dent on each side but it’s much less apparent now that it’s been cleaned up.

While not an Antique, I stepped into our local thrift store and found a circa 1940's Gunlocke Bank Of England chair marked $6.99 and it was 50% off day so for $3.50 and tax I walked out with a chair like this that they think they can get $1200 for on First Dibs.... It is now sitting at my large Oak computer desk in my loft ...weighs as much as a boat anchor, even taking it apart in two pieces to get it up the loft stairs...it is this model ... they still make them , they are very expensive , but no where near as neat as a vintage one in lightly used condition..... for $3.50 plus tax....
