THOUGHT THEY WERE OLD HEADLIGHTS - HWY PATROL SPOTLIGHTS?

These were part of a large box of smalls I bought from my friend; who found them with a lot of other cool & unusual vintage stuff. At first I (and he) thought they were old car headlights, but that was at dusk in a storage unit we were emptying - when I got them home I saw the little switch to turn them on & off and knew they couldn't be headlights.
But my next thought was that they were old police car spotlights?! (Car 51 where are you?)?
    Any help would be appreciated!

Did tractors have chrome lights? (my tractor isn't terribly old so has modern lighting)

By your images, the green wire doesn’t seem to be connected to the lights. Looks like it was just used to hold(tie) the two lights together. Seeing they only have one wire coming out, the current was completed via ground. Very typical for mobile transportation. A motorcycle would not have the knob to twist and turn. Even the old police search lights had the control inside the vehicle(Think Chicago winters). They were probably used as a spot light on a boat. The switch is for practically and the half dome inside the lens covering the buld makes it a spot light as opposed to a flood seen on most vehicals for moving foward.

    IMHO

Those lights might have saved somebody’s life :)
