I need to get a picture up, but I scored a French brass and faience wall sconce today for $7.50 plus tax. Montereau marked LM&C (Creil) It has square nuts holding together and may be older than I thought. The plaque is a cameo design. Probably selling it locally because I'm too chicken to ship it and it weighs a ton.

Unusual find. These are still sealed in original cellophane and were $2 each at a thrift today. Harlequins by Eden. 20210805_140051.jpg 20210805_184708.jpg

Got the pictures uploaded and resized. This is one either @Bronwen or @Ghopper1924 would have jumped on too. The ceramic plaque is made to look like a cameo. Marked Montereau with the LM&C mark. DSCF6714.JPG DSCF6715.JPG DSCF6716.JPG DSCF6717.JPG

If it sells, I don't care how goofy it is. I was surprised there is a market for them. ;)

The modeling of the figure is quite good, but I don't do red. Looks a good quality piece for sure.

@Boland, where is it specifically that you're looking for a signature on that Cape Dutch homestead....I'm seeing two possibilities, one of which I see as not really decipherable!!! The other looks to be in that arched small bridge type "fence".....

Thanks for the comment. I was looking to decipher that very faint signature on the bottom right. Looked at it under magnifying glass, different light and tried the options I could think of. But I agree with you a 100%. I also noted that weird looking fence/bridge. Looks out of place. At a distance it looks like it could be initials (but so far also no luck) I will keep trying for a while still.

@Boland, a couple of edits weren't very productive....looks like there "MIGHT" be an 'A' and a couple of 'D's" in the RIGHT area, and what I thought might be a signature on the left, I now think is maybe just crackle in the canvas!! RIGHT area should be showing FIRST......I still don't understand why, if an artist takes the time to do a painting, they don't take the time to make their signature legible!!!!:rolleyes:

Much appreciated. Thank you for your efforts and for the images. I really don’t know anymore. I totally agree with you regarding some artists and their signatures. It’s like a orchestrated frustrating treasure hunt! Makes no sense why they do that!
