Both of those paintings are great!
Love the smoker ... Advertising a cigarette brand? What does it say on the bottom?

It appears like a cigarette on the picture, but in fact it is a hole in his mouth to hold a pipe.
And nothing to do with tobacco, it is a golf bal advertising figure.
    For Penfold gols balls.

Trying my hand at thrifting in Edinburgh, no luck so far (I had heard there aren’t many deals here!). My partner did buy me this lovely painting in a charity shop, but I’d hardly call it thrift for £25 :p

$3 yard sale find. Crocheted tablecloth. I soaked it in Oxyclean, detergent, and bleach overnight, came out crystal clean. 20210725_093751.jpg

It appears to be cyrillic? Substituting the letter in “HA PEKE ВOРE” For roman letters, I got “Na Ryekye Vopye” which translated from Russian into “On the Vopia River.” “B.PЯБOBOЛ” becomes “V. Ryabovol”— but the letters in the last bit (“PXOҺCT, MACHO“?) elude me, so no idea of location yet :p

Never seen one of those before. I found some interesting if non-remunerative bits this weekend.

I also posted photos of some of my Friday night auction buys on the thread about the auction.

The Mah Jong set is in its original box. All the tiles are present but I haven't checked out the other pieces. I am fairly certain the tiles are made of bamboo.

This is the Fulper Pottery perfume nightlight lamp I got at last week's auction. [IMG] [IMG]

I found these listed as carved cherry amber. [IMG]

This is staying with me. It is shown in the 1937 DeVilbiss catalog & is a combination powder jar with 2 tiny atomizers.:happy:[IMG]

I also got a huge pile of flatware with Bakelite handles. Most of the handles are red but there is also some green, orange, tan, brown & black. :D:D
