Hey guys, I have an opportunity to buy those two items. But seller has no idea on age of those and possible true value. Both are in pristine condition, sterling silver. 1. Daikoku statue 41oz (solid) (asking $1950) 2. Daikoku hammer/mallet - 25oz.(asking $995) IMG_1152.jpg IMG_1150.jpg IMG_1149.jpg IMG_1158.jpg IMG_1157.jpg IMG_1156.jpg IMG_1155.jpg IMG_1158.jpg IMG_1160.jpg IMG_1161.jpg

Correct. As I said before, it is silver and gold, and it is by a different maker. That would make it different by definition.:playful:
I also said that no possible value was mentioned. I might add that we don't usually value items. If someone finds a listing for a similar one by the same maker, they will add a link.

So I manage to translate the inscriptions and they are in Chinese. First character in the photo means "Blessings and virtues are infinite," the second character means "May all your wishes come true," the third character means "Made of silver,". That person wasn’t able to translate a name of maker. Is it possible that this mallet is Chinese or Taiwanese made? You guys have any idea on possible age? I understand about validation rules and agree with you. I’m just desperately trying to figure out anything about this item.

As you say the seller has no clue either on true value (so he just wants to make a sale, otherwise he would have done some research himself) If you really want the items, then maybe do a combo deal and make the seller a offer.

How do you know? Japanese Kanji script is largely the same as Chinese script.
I see no reason why these items wouldn't be Japanese made.

The first one is japanese. mark in the back of hem of clothes , cannot really read it.

The second looks more chinese than japanese. However, it is still japanese because of the name marked on it. Even though it reads made of silver, many tiwanese artisans and chinese artisan OEM silverwares and export to japan before japanese stamp their own mark on them.

When you collect items as hobby and you like this mallet very much, $995 is a reasonable price to buy based on the weight. If you want to resell it, I don't think you cannot get much profit.
