Another camping trip a couple hours from home and some finds while getting there:

Two Tesuque Pueblo "Rain Gods," a Navajo pitch-covered pot, a vintage Acoma Pueblo jar with handles, the big birch bark 'box' (I think--gonna ask on the Tribal forum) and what I think may be a Taos Pueblo pot.

Went hunting in my usual spots today. At the charity shop I found some beads in need of messing with (not shown) and a sterling pin that's only marked 925. It seems Mexican or similar and has a two-headed snake on the front. The I went into the antique store and hit their "costume jewelry". Found the sterling beads, the 800 silver tea or sugar scoop, and all the gold earrings. 14k marked costume, eh? One of my cousins was asking about scrap gold and his wife doesn't have her ears pierced. I think we just hooked her up. With the pearl weight we're talking over $400 in scrap. Costume. Well the store manager's the expert!

The ball thing is silver too and it's hinged. The glass ball inside is hollow, probably Venetian although the surround looks anything but.

I have a pendant very similar to your ball thing, a little less ornate in the 'cage', with a moonstone on top & a serenity chime inside. It was sold along with a collection of Himalayan silver items that had been gathered by someone for her own jewellery making.

I knew it wasn't the only one; it appears at least artisan made instead of a one-off. I think this one has a blue topaz but it could be glass. Not sure I cared.

I brought up mine as a possible suggestion for the origin of yours, since the Venetian glass would lead one elsewhere.

It could have been assembled in on place from parts from two others. Hard to say. Mine showed up on an unrelated junk chain.

Those pearls are just too pretty to scrap. I was at that community yard sale last week and a woman had two extremely thin 14k chains and wanted $25 each for them, but a dealer talked her down to $20 for the two. I have no idea what scrap would be on those.... and yet the woman wouldn't come down very much on her sterling bracelets. Go figure. I did buy four sterling bracelets from her for $50. I don't know why she came down so low on the gold.

Our local store manager/owner is the first one at the booth if anyone brings something in.

The shop owner here is the same type, but she missed those 18k chains and the 14k earrings. I guess no one ever made precious metal clip-ons!

The estate sale that was 3 to 7 yesterday that I didn't go to, I stopped in today. I asked if they were busy yesterday, and the lady said it was unbelievable. People were lined up at 2 pm, and it was insanely busy the whole 4 hours. They had more jewelry than they advertised. From what I saw of the leftovers, pricing was all over the place- seems they had no clue. It was 94 here yesterday, humid, and no shade to be found in that line. I can't be out in the heat due to cardiac conditions. I take frequent indoor breaks at flea markets and outdoor shows.

    Drat. Oh well.

I went late to an estate sale this morning that I expected to be all furniture with a little home dec. Needed some sleep. It turns out they'd had some jewelry anyway that went first thing. All Brighton apparently - good riddance, sez I. Got my sister some hand-crocheted Muppet Christmas ornaments instead.(LOL)

Muppets rule, I am not much of a modern jewelry fan...I don't get the excitement over Brighton. I used to collect Kirk's Folly in the 90s when it was marked Made in the USA.

I have some little things I think are cool I got recently, but it's rainy and cloudy, not good photography days here. I bought this beat-up old hand mirror for $2.50 yesterday. I think it's still so beautiful. 20210702_091603.jpg 20210702_091611.jpg
I thought of going to the estate sale, but didn't want to end up in the hospital. And there would have been pushing, shoving, body blocking, etc.

A Charish seller says this is "Mid-century set of pink glass bowl and matching plate with ruffled rim in waffle pattern.
Made by the Colony Glass Company in Murano, Italy."
I don't know, but I thought it was pretty. It's actually pinker in person.

My last visit to Spitalfields on Thursday, though I may go again it won’t be like it was (a short journey!). You can tell the last lockdown hit them hard, I usually never pay ticket price on anything, but that day nobody offered any discounts at all and my meagre funds were gone pretty quickly. I didn’t ask for any deals, I figure my money helps keep them around, and still perfectly happy with what I got.

Included is one photo from before lockdown and the junk and paper trays from Thurs. really going to miss that place - if you don’t know about it and you’re in London I highly recommend!

This fella is probably one of the Sri Lankan elephants sold as trinkets to people using the Suez Canal to reach Australia (a friend jokes about the herds hundreds strong over there).

I love these odd costume jewellery bracelets, panels linked by two jump hoops, no idea when they’re from but they seem like “travel” bracelets sold to tourists in Europe? This one came up very nice after a gentle clean... not sure I’ll ever work out what’s on the central panel...

Modern and very light, but I like the bold colour!
Some will note there’s also a corgi in the mix, about to put him in the doggo group :) Won’t post the slides... they’re going in my “colourful” collection and are not for general consumption! ;)

I don’t find them shocking at all, but with photographs you never know who will find them unpleasant and I’d rather be careful. She was a beauty though! I don’t swing that way but a looker is a looker!
