Hmmmmm... I think you need to take that to your local county archaeoogist or the Portable Antiquities Service. Literally, old as dirt. I can't decide if it's gold or perhaps bronze, but it wants looking at.

I do wonder where my pennies are. I still have one. Why did two disappear but one remained?
Everyone used to lol at me for picking change up, now I have A ( rather longwinded but still) Story so I can laugh longer ( not that anyone will believe me. I woudn't believe anyone if they told me this, it makes no sense)

 

It looks like the two edges of the break in the ring might fit together if squeezed, so perhaps once a complete ring. I agree it looks very worn. As to your pennies, I was going to ask if you have cats. They are usually the explanation for anything missing around here. When you mentioned "litter", did you mean rubbish or kitty litter? Which leads to the next unlikely scenario - if you meant kitty litter, perhaps the ring was something the cat dragged in and left in her litter box?

 

What kind of 'pennies' are we talking about? The lower one here will dissolve in vinegar.

 

One new penny (left halfway down)
Vinegar was one thing I didn't use...I have a semi phobia of wet coins for some reason. Specially food wet on them like tomato ketchup. Well actually I only basted them in diet coke a few times and washed them every day just to see what'd happen. Like a science project. They were covered in mank from garden, and doggo hair yuk.
I used to go metal detecting as a child and think my phobia came from that. Seen some mankers in yukky water a fair few times. Got enough silver paper to buy several guide dogs and also a few cute coins. Still have them (nothing major is in them ) I just like them x x
Actually it's the ones with a ship on them that freak me out most. No idea why but

The bubbling is the way it was when I got it out of the ground ( well it was partly in the ground)
I found three of them at three different times x

ohh I ( finally) see what you mean, if they had been in vinegar and dissolved they'd be gone...I looked at them about ten times a day,there's no way they disappeared that way. One day they were there and the next there was only one .

I did mean kitty litter yes. That does make sense...but I would have had to have had it in the house in the first place but it got where it was somehow so that is the best scenario so far. My cats are house cats,they aren't allowed out.
I would have known it was here , nothing gets past me and I have a house full of stuff, I know where everything IS. Doesn't mean I can actually get to anything I want but I DO know where it all is
BUT it got there somehow xx

 

My cats would have had KITTENS!

 

(Just want to add, I am tight as all hell but even I wouldn't go actually into litter to get two pennies, the litter was in seperate bags in the bottom of the big bin, JFTR )
