Good possibility it is a military or uniform button and old. Late 1800s? early 1900s?

Not any military. Bus line, hotel, railroad, etc. Mid 1900s.

Could be a monogram ordered by Courtney Crumpett. He had no middle name so this would be a proper monogram for him. I’ve seen many engraved blazer buttons so it isn’t too much of a stretch to imagine someone ordering monogram-stamped blazer buttons.

As far as organizations, companies, etc that maybe, possibly, could have ordered uniform buttons, the possibilities are in the thousands at least. I think only way you’d find a connection there would be to find an old photo with uniformed folks wearing the same, block-font “CC” buttons.

I know nuthin’ about buttons. There are a lot of entries under 9901, hard to make sense.

Way I read it, they are trying to say that when the letters lack serifs, the button dates from 1880 or later. Right or not?

Correct. But the other thing you are looking at is the way the shank is attached to the back. Not a button aficionado, but believe that changed somewhere around 1900 or a few years after.

@Kingjoker really needs to have a button collector look at is.
