    Hello all,
I just purchased a beautiful desk at a local auction and was hoping to learn more about it. It's an antique secretarial style desk with no manufacturer markings. I thought it was french but the estate said it was purchased in Italy. Any info or guidance is appreciated.

To the best of my knowledge, those are commonly from Italy and modern, not antique. Let's see if others agree/disagree.

Late 20th Century Italian in the French manner works for me.

YIKES! It sold for 360,000 EUR, not exactly giving it away.

Italy was churning these out in the 50s-60s for export. I would doubt any earlier than this and possibly quite a bit later.

Italy made copies of all French styles since the end of the Napoleonic wars and specially after the unification and independance in 1861, when the inner-statal taxes fell away and sold them all over Europe because French was the thing people wanted.
the one in the link is a special case due its maker that worked for the Kings of France.
