Very pretty glass! I'd have bought ALL of these in a heartbeat! I think y'all got great finds!

Pat, I recently looked at a 2k estate diamond ring, Art Deco style and age, entirely cased setting in yellow gold on a wide pink gold band. I wanted to see that the setting detracted from the incoming light below to make the diamond "not sparkle" so much, but I didn't see that, it sparkled bright and beautifully anyway. I don't know if this sort of a setting would be made to hide a flaw or just because it was so secure to hold the diamond in?

Oh and I wanted that one too! :D:D

I'm coming around to thinking they may be old. :)

They're not like the Venetian millefiori beads I'm familiar with, but that may not mean anything. They may have been made elsewhere or by a company that had a unique approach, or made at a time when the process was different. Lots of variables!

If you find out more about the beads, I'd love to know what you find. :)

I wish I could find out how old they might be. I'll let you know if I learn anything else through my research. :)

Most old African trade beads date from the late 19th-early 20th century. A few are older, some European ones for the African trade are even 17th century, the Arab ones can be over 1000 yrs old.
Beads were also traded on other continents, and Javanese-made trade beads were traded in the Pacific:

But this style is like the late 19th-early 20th century beads, after the European slave trade. Sadly African slave trade is still ging on, but no glass beads involved.

You could carry a mm ruler and measure the diameter of the ring and with a chart of ring sizes.

Fun, isn't it. Barn has given us a nice scope of things to look at. And ponder.

Thanks for the ring size chart, AJ. I have not downloaded it but I bookmarked it, what a good idea to communicate the size to buyers!

Hmm... looks like "nvn" to me. Googling that, I found there's an "nvn" mark for a Danish silversmith...

Diamonds don't need back light to sparkle....it's refracted light that comes in the top..

Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

Looks like most of these have been thoroughly discussed. I think I like the teardrop-shaped coral one the best, but the whole group is nice.

@Barn Owl this might be something to check! Consistent with the 830 mark, too.

Good job finding that, Pat P.
