These were among the things I bought today at a flea market. I believe that the bracelet is garnet, but I'm having trouble with its time period. The red brooch below it is modern with a safety clasp and closed back, but I was wondering if it also might be Czech, albeit glass. The rings both contain red stones; I think the silver one is garnet, not sure about the other. Clueless about the damascene hair comb and the type of coral in the necklace. Both the purple brooch and the coral glass one have c-clasps. The pendant is marked 850S (or 830S) and signed with what looks like nxn or nxc. Hard to tell. Is it brutalist?

Sorry that I'm posting so many threads. I can't upload pictures to the Finds thread on my phone...

Check the hair comb with a magnet, the photo is too small to see details but it looks like faux damascene.

    Sorry are these photos better?
I need to buy a magnet. If it's magnetic, what does that mean?

Real damascene is usually made with an iron/steel base with the exception of some Japanese damascene that has a base of shakudo which is mostly copper.

The teardrop shaped pendant(?) top left in this picture is from Nepal. These fetch some money these days. The inlay is glass, faux coral.

    Dyed sponge coral.
(Did I spell that right? Something looks strange.)

The stones in the bracelet and the single stone in one of the rings could be garnets or glass. 'Garnet glass' was very popular at one time.
Bohemian/Czech-made garnet jewellery was usually set in tombac (goldtone brass-like metal), gold, or gilded tombac or gilded silver.

Bangle is a nice late 19th/early 20th C Bohemian garnet one, in probably/possibly silver. Hair comb is Spanish: that actually looks more like proper damascene.

I've got that dangly brooch in pink. Can you get the back of the amethyst coloured one and the coral one, please, likewise the blue pendant. I suspect the amethyst one is Edwardian and nicely done glass.

The tear-shaped one is a brooch. I have another one like it I bought a few days ago, but it has an elephant on it and blue and coral glass. Glad to hear they go for some money.
Is there a way of telling how old it is or where it's from?
Looks right to me. Is sponge coral worth anything?

The porcelain pendant says "Handgemalt" on it below the Bavaria stamp

:( I'll chalk it up to error. Seems like every time I find something nice, I also buy things that aren't so nice.

It gets better with experience, but it still happens occasionally to most of us.

Haha, thanks. I just paid more for the necklace than I would ave otherwise, knowing it isn't worth that much.

brutally Swedish 830 silver. to me it looks transitional between arts and crafts and Bauhaus. if you could give the exact marks someone might recognise the maker.

They're so small, i'm having a hard time even seeing them with my loupe. It looks like a lower case nxc (or nxn or nxo), with the n having a smooth curve to it, like a c turned onto its side.

Don't use anything more than a Sunshine cloth on the bracelet. Amethyst brooch is the date I suspected: late 19th into early 20th again. Might be silver, might evenbe real stones, but most likely to be glass.

I was also going to say they might be old glass African trade beads. But I think they also could be either new faux glass trade beads made in China or hobbyist beads made out of polymer clay. If they *are* old trade beads, they're worth a nice amount.

Around 15 years ago, I sold a few antique millefiore African trade bead lots to a buyer in China. I didn't think too much about it, but some years later I started seeing what to my eye are obviously fake trade beads on eBay and I suspect the Chinese have been copying them and pawning them off on unsuspecting buyers.
