Can anyone identify what type of tin this would be? The only clues I see are the slotted holes in the bottom .

    thanks

If you twist the lid, does it close the slots?

I keep thinking this was a can for cleaning powder. (Ajax, Comet type powder). Not sure why I'm thinking that. Guessing 1930s-40s. Could be way off track on everything.

Found this site, but don't really want to read through it all

No, the slots are located on the bottom of the tin. Perhaps they were used to fasten the tin to another piece. It seems strange to find vent hole in the bottom instead of the top .

Can you add a photo of the top?

Looks to me like the bottom might twist, although could be stuck now. Can't see having holes in the bottom without a way to close them.

Jivvy the research is my favorite

It looks to me like the top and bottom are both separate at-least-at-one-time removable pieces?

Just wondering if top and bottom got reversed at some point. Not that I would know it's purpose even if that is the case.

Decoration appears to include logging wagon. Unusual and could help pinpoint a specific location.

Yes, logging wagon on one side , cows in a pond on the other side and geese on the top . All farm scenes and the bottom looks like it has solder or something holding the bottom on .

How big is it? Is it canister size?

Or general nature of the contents it was designed to hold & disperse. Seems more country kitchen than kitchen garden, but...

This one has the same scenes as well. There is nothing on the inside of the lid though . I wonder what would be kept in this tin that would require the vents in the bottom ?
