    I agree, modern, a stylistic mishmash, largely inspired by the Classic Maya period.
    The drum features the central face of the Aztec Stone of the Sun or Aztec calendar stone.
    Given the Aztec and other non-Maya elements, they were probably not made by present day Mayas. It is a common misconception that the Aztec Stone of the Sun represents the famous Maya calendar. The Aztec and Maya were two very different cultures.
