    Hi all,
My friend just sent photos of this painting she picked up - 24" x 28" oil on canvas. Signed on the lower right corner Berthold, marked on the back of the canvas and the frame A29-682-859.
Any ideas on artist? I'm not finding anything.
    Any information appreciated
    thanks for looking

    Hi Cxgirl,
I checked the link above with no luck on this style. You can double check. I think the monk paintings were somewhat popular in the schools. But wait for more replies.

original painting most probably in the style of Münchner Schule (1850 - 1914). this here seems to be mass-produced and the canvas seems new.
the phone no. on the back may be an article no.

true. for a German restaurant with Oktoberfest, Weisswürschtl and other inhuman atrocities  amazingly these paintings originally sold best in the US outside Germany already when they were new. they were thought for the masses that felt exiled in the industrial cities and were homesick for the countries they came from.

reminds me when Michael Portillo - in his series continental railway - is taught to eat Weisswürste in Munich and tries to pronounce the verb Zuzeln, which is the way to suck these sausages empty. hilarious.

Seems similar to eating a mudbug. You pinch the tail and suck the head.
